SESSION PREP
Professional hair & make-up is HIGHLY recommended. Does anything feel better than airbrushed foundation & a fresh blow out?
Professional grooming is also HIGHLY recommended. Imagine being covered in sweat, dust, & horse hair before your session!
Give ‘em a work out! A tired horse is a good model. Make sure any horses involved get a ride, lunge or turn out before your session.
Your session will take place in the hours after sunrise or before sunset. Many of us call this the “witching hour.” Make sure your horse is comfortable where/when the session will be.
If you ride at a training facility, make sure to let your trainer or barn manager know when/where the session will be.
Bring a friend or family member! Having a friendly face & helping hand makes ALL the difference; if they are horse savvy, all the better!
Pastels & light neutrals always look great on camera.
My favorite 3 looks are: Cute & Casual (cute top + jeans/shorts), Sweet & Flirty (sun dress, blouse + skirt, or gown), and Equestrian Glam (riding/show clothes + full hair & makeup)
Press & lay out your outfit selections the night before! Wrinkled clothes are harder to photoshop than you think!
Clean & oil any tack you’d like to use in the session. Horses can be in a leather halter, bridle only, or fully tacked.
